Folding is not a deciding feature among the mainstream tables, because all of them fold. What differs is the folded size, the weight you have to move and what the maker tells you about storing it.

Inversion tables are not for everyone. Read who should not use one first.

  • Includes Lumbar Bridge and Acupressure Nodes

Best overall

Teeter FitSpine X3 Inversion Table

Illustration

Best for: Most people who want a proven, easy-to-use table within 300 lb and 4'8" to 6'6"

What we like

  • EZ-Reach ankle system has an extra-long handle, so there is less bending forward to secure your ankles
  • EZ-Angle tether with embroidered 20, 40 and 60 degree markings makes the starting angle easy to repeat
  • FlexTech backrest on an 8-point floating suspension; Stretch Max and EZ-Stretch handles for stretching at different angles
  • 5-year full warranty is included

Keep in mind

  • 300 lb and 6'6" are hard limits; taller or heavier users need a different design
  • Roughly 66 lb, so it is awkward to move even though it folds for storage
  • Costs more than the EP-560 and FitSpine X1, which share the same weight and height limits
  • Max user 300 lb
  • Height 4'8"–6'6"
  • Max angle 180°
  • Folds
  • Mid-range

Premium pick

Teeter FitSpine LX9 Inversion Table

Illustration

  • Same Deluxe EZ-Reach ankle system, EZ-Angle tether and handles as the X3
  • Includes a storage caddy and node holder
  • 5-year full warranty is included

Keep in mind

  • Same 300 lb and 6'6" limits as the cheaper FitSpine models, so the extra cost buys convenience, not capacity

  • Max user 300 lb
  • Height 4'8"–6'6"
  • Max angle 180°
  • Folds

Every table here folds

Each Teeter product page says the table "folds easily for storage", and Innova's storage and maintenance page describes folding its tables by removing a safety pin and pulling up on the handlebars. So the question is not whether a table folds but how big and heavy it is, and whether you can leave it standing or must put it away each time.

Two cautions that come straight from Innova's page: store it so it cannot fall, slam or tip, and do not let anyone use it while it is in storage mode. Use the table only when the base frame is fully extended.

What the makers publish

Table Folded size (L x W x H) Weight In-use footprint
Teeter EP-560 20 x 28.8 x 66 in 59.0 lb 84 x 28.8 x 86 in
Teeter FitSpine X1 20 x 28.8 x 66 in 60.3 lb 81 x 28.8 x 86.5 in
Teeter FitSpine X3 20 x 28.8 x 66 in 65.8 lb 81 x 28.8 x 86.5 in
Teeter FitSpine LX9 22.1 x 32 x 67.4 in 73.6 lb 81.7 x 32 x 86.5 in

Teeter's figures come from the specification section of each product page. Innova's model pages do not list folded size or product weight, so measure from your manual before you commit to a spot.

How to choose

  • Lightest and slimmest to put away: the three smaller Teeters share the same 20 x 28.8 x 66 in folded size. The EP-560 is the lightest, at 59 lb, and the X1 and X3 are only a few pounds heavier.
  • Biggest folded footprint: the LX9, with its wider arched frame, folds to 22.1 x 32 x 67.4 in and is the heaviest.
  • Innova tables: the ITX9600, ITX9800 and ITX1200 fold, per Innova's general storage page, but we could not find a folded size on the model pages, so we cannot rank them on space.

Questions

Can I leave it standing folded?

Teeter lists a storage dimension for each table, so it is designed to stand in that position. Innova says to leave the base frame wide enough to remain stable or to secure it to a wall to prevent tipping. Follow your own manual.

Will it fit in a closet?

At 66 in tall by 28.8 in wide by 20 in deep the three smaller Teeters are about the size of a tall narrow cabinet, but you also have to carry roughly 60 lb to get them there. Measure first.

Does folding change the weight limit?

No. Weight limits apply to use. Teeter and Innova both list 300 lb on most models, and 350 lb on the Innova ITX1200. See how to choose an inversion table.

Safety

Inversion tables are not for everyone. Read who should not use one first, and talk to your doctor before you try one if you have any health condition.
