The short, honest answer: the mainstream tables stop at 6 ft 6 in. If you are at or under that, seven tables qualify on the makers' own pages. If you are taller, none of these is a match.

Inversion tables are not for everyone. Read who should not use one first.

Our picks in detail

Best overall

Teeter FitSpine X3 Inversion Table

Illustration

Best for: Most people who want a proven, easy-to-use table within 300 lb and 4'8" to 6'6"

What we like

  • EZ-Reach ankle system has an extra-long handle, so there is less bending forward to secure your ankles
  • EZ-Angle tether with embroidered 20, 40 and 60 degree markings makes the starting angle easy to repeat
  • FlexTech backrest on an 8-point floating suspension; Stretch Max and EZ-Stretch handles for stretching at different angles
  • 5-year full warranty is included

Keep in mind

  • 300 lb and 6'6" are hard limits; taller or heavier users need a different design
  • Roughly 66 lb, so it is awkward to move even though it folds for storage
  • Costs more than the EP-560 and FitSpine X1, which share the same weight and height limits
  • Max user 300 lb
  • Height 4'8"–6'6"
  • Max angle 180°
  • Folds
  • Mid-range

What we like

  • Raised boarding platform and ergonomic LX arched frame make getting on and off easier
  • Same Deluxe EZ-Reach ankle system, EZ-Angle tether and handles as the X3
  • Includes a storage caddy and node holder
  • 5-year full warranty is included

Keep in mind

  • Same 300 lb and 6'6" limits as the cheaper FitSpine models, so the extra cost buys convenience, not capacity
  • Heavier than the X3 at about 74 lb
  • Highest list price of the Teeter tables compared here
  • Max user 300 lb
  • Height 4'8"–6'6"
  • Max angle 180°
  • Folds
  • Premium

  • Includes Lumbar Bridge and Acupressure Nodes
  • Lightest FitSpine at about 60 lb
  • 5-year full warranty is included

The mainstream tables stop at 6 ft 6 in

We checked the makers' own pages for the seven tables we cover. Every one of them lists 6 ft 6 in as the top of its height range: Teeter lists 4 ft 8 in to 6 ft 6 in on the FitSpine X3, LX9, X1 and EP-560, and Innova lists 4 ft 10 in to 6 ft 6 in on the ITX9600, ITX1200 and ITX9800. None lists anything taller.

That is the useful thing to know before you search further. Some pages promise an "inversion table for 6 ft 8 in", but we could not confirm a taller range on a maker page for any table we cover, so we do not recommend one. If you are over 6 ft 6 in, do not use a table whose range stops below your height. The height range is there because the table's balance and rotation depend on it.

If you are tall but within 6 ft 6 in

All seven tables below reach the limit, so the choice comes down to the things that matter more when you are tall.

  • Ceiling and floor space. Teeter lists the X3 at roughly 81 x 28.8 in on the floor and 86.5 in high in use, which is just over 7 ft. The LX9 is 81.7 x 32 x 86.5 in and the EP-560 is 84 x 28.8 x 86 in. Measure your room rather than assuming a standard ceiling will do. Innova does not publish in-use dimensions on the model pages we checked, so check its manual.
  • Ankle step. Teeter's X3 and LX9 have an extra-long handle that Teeter says reduces the need to bend forward when securing your ankles. The X1 and EP-560 use a T-pin closure.
  • Height setting. Teeter's owner's manual says to start with the height setting one inch above your height, then test your balance, and that your ideal setting could vary several inches either side of your actual height. Read how to assemble and adjust an inversion table.
  • Weight. Height and weight limits are separate. Most of these tables are rated to 300 lb; only the Innova ITX1200 is rated to 350 lb. See heavy-duty tables.

How the seven compare for tall users

Teeter FitSpine X3. 300 lb, up to 6 ft 6 in, extra-long ankle handle, tether marked at 20, 40 and 60 degrees, 5-year full warranty. Teeter's main table.

Teeter FitSpine LX9. The same limits as the X3, plus a raised boarding platform and an arched frame. It is wider and heavier, at 73.6 lb.

Teeter FitSpine X1 and EP-560. The same 6 ft 6 in limit at a lower price tier, with a T-pin ankle closure.

Innova ITX9600, ITX9800 and ITX1200. Innova lists 4 ft 10 in to 6 ft 6 in, a one-year limited warranty, and a pin system rather than a tether. If you are tall and heavy, the ITX1200 is the one rated to 350 lb.

Questions

Is there a table for someone over 6 ft 6 in?

Not among the tables whose makers publish a range. Some retailer pages list taller models, but we could not confirm any on a maker's own page, so we left them out. If you are taller than any listed range, a table is probably not the right tool.

Does being tall change how I should use a table?

The manuals say your balance setting depends on how your weight is spread, not only your height, and that you should test it with someone nearby. Start at a small angle and short sessions. Read what angle to start at.

Do I need a doctor's approval?

Teeter's manuals say not to use the table without a licensed physician's approval. Read who should not use an inversion table and talk to your doctor first.

Safety

Inversion tables are not for everyone. Read who should not use one first, and talk to your doctor before you try one if you have any health condition.
